5 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Concrete Driveway in Tyler, Texas
By Enriquez Concrete Team

A driveway takes a beating — Texas sun, heavy trucks, rain, and the slow shift of the soil underneath it. Most concrete driveways give you 20 to 30 good years when they're built right, but no surface lasts forever. Here are five signs it may be time to call us about a replacement.
1. Cracks Running Across the Slab
A few hairline cracks are normal as concrete cures and settles. But when cracks get wider than a quarter inch, run edge to edge, or branch into a pattern that looks like alligator skin, the slab is breaking down. Patching buys time, but widespread cracking usually means the base underneath has moved.
2. Sections That Sink or Settle
If one part of your driveway sits lower than the rest, or you can feel a lip where the slabs meet, the ground beneath has compacted or washed out. A settled slab pools water, cracks under weight, and only gets worse until the base is fixed — which usually means replacing that section.
3. Surface Pitting and Spalling
When the top of the concrete starts flaking off and exposing the aggregate underneath, that's spalling. It happens from freeze-thaw cycles, de-icing salts, and a surface that finished too weak. Once the surface goes, the slab loses both strength and looks.
4. Water Running the Wrong Way
Your driveway should shed water toward the street or a drain — not toward your garage, foundation, or the low spot in your yard. If water pools on the slab or runs where it shouldn't after a rain, the slope is off, and a replacement lets us re-grade it right.
5. It's Just Old
Sometimes there's no single disaster — your driveway has just reached the end of a long, useful life. If you're already repairing it every year and it still looks tired, a new pour adds curb appeal and gives you another couple decades of trouble-free use.
Not sure whether you need a repair or a full replacement? We'll come look and give you an honest, no-pressure estimate either way.
